Checkpoint: Amodei's "AI writes 90% of code" — March 2026 milestone date passed

Dario Amodei, predicted_on 2025-03 (Council on Foreign Relations), claimed AI would write 90% of code within three to six months and essentially all of it within a year; the claim's target_date is 2026-03, which has passed. A LessWrong post (published checkpoint source) examines whether 90% of code at Anthropic is AI-written and reports the internal figure as disputed. Independent measurements on record include an arXiv estimate of 30.1% of Python functions AI-written by December 2024 and Microsoft reporting 20–30% of its repository code AI-written as of April 2025; no verified industry-wide 90% figure is on record.
